The Bow-Tie Chart displays one person's ancestry in two directions. The starting person's father and his ancestors extend to the left; the mother and her ancestors extend to the right. Use it to show the paternal and maternal sides of a person's family together. It does not start with a selected couple. You can customize the layout, style and many other aspects of the chart.

Create and check the chart

Open Publish > All reports and charts, choose Bow-Tie Chart, and select the starting person. Set the generation count and generate the report before refining the layout. Check the father and mother branches to confirm that the intended family is displayed.

If names are crowded, try fewer generations, a wider box, or more spacing, then regenerate. Use Chart Colors for branch coloring and Print Settings for Multiple Pages when the finished chart will not be readable on one sheet.
