Choose Settings on the main window, then Display, to change how RootsMagic looks on your screen. These settings do not change your printed reports or charts.
Choosing a theme
In Theme color, click a color name: Green, Blue, Red, Purple, Silver, Heritage, Wine, Olive, Indigo, or Slate. RootsMagic changes color immediately. To return to the previous color, click its name again.
Theme contrast offers Standard, High, and Max. Use it with your chosen color to find a comfortable contrast. High contrast grid highlight is a separate switch that provides a more visible selection bar in lists; it is not another theme color.
People views and the side panel
Background color (ped/fam views) controls the background of the Pedigree and Family views. It is separate from Theme color. The setting displays a color swatch and the current color value.
People side view position lets you put the People page's side panel on the Right or Left. Choose the side that suits the way you read the tree and its supporting information.
Show pictures on ped/fam view controls the display of a person's primary picture in Pedigree and Family views. Show avatars on ped/fam view controls the substitute person symbols used when a picture is not available. These are display choices; turning pictures off does not remove media from your database.
Text size
Font scaling % changes the size of the words on RootsMagic screens. Start at 100, the normal size, and increase it to make text easier to read. Larger text leaves room for fewer items on screen. Close and restart RootsMagic if some screens have not changed.
