The Sources view in Edit Person brings together citations attached to the person, names, families, and facts. Select a citation row to edit its source and citation information on the right.
Choose the person or fact you want to document
Use the item drop-down above the list to show a particular fact, name, family, or general person citations. The search field narrows the displayed rows by source or citation name.
Before adding a citation, choose the fact in the list above the citations. For example, choose Birth to add evidence for the birth. If you leave the list showing everything, a new citation is added to the person generally. Check where the citation appears when you finish.
If a citation seems to be missing, clear both the item filter and the text search before creating it again.
Add or reuse
Click the add control to begin. Choose Add with SourceWizard for help entering a source, Add new to choose a source type yourself, Cite existing to use something you have already saved, or Paste to use a memorized citation. See Adding a citation for the steps and SourceWizard for ways to begin with a description, website address, or copied citation.
When pasting, choose Reuse citation to use the same citation again. Choose Paste copy if you want a separate citation whose page or record details you can change without changing the original. See Using Sources and Citations.
Edit and organize
Select a row to edit the citation. Correcting a book title under Master Source changes it in every citation of that book. Correcting a page number under Citation Details changes it everywhere you have used that citation. Use the pencil in the heading to change names and reference numbers, the text button for notes, and the links button for pictures, website links, and Used lists.
Quality describes how the citation supports the person or fact you selected. Check that fact before choosing a Source, Information, or Evidence rating. See Editing a citation and Citation quality.
The toolbar also lets you delete, memorize, and paste citations. Check which person or fact a citation belongs to before removing it, and read any confirmation. When the list shows one person or fact, use the up/down control to change the order of its citations.
