The RootsMagic 12 Windows installer contains both the 32-bit and 64-bit program and installs the appropriate version for your computer. The Place Database is automatically included in the installer and will be installed at the same time. Both versions include the same import capabilities.

 

1.Download the Windows installer from the RootsMagic website. Close RootsMagic before running an update or installation.

2.Open the downloaded installer. If Windows asks whether to allow changes, check that this is the installer you downloaded from RootsMagic and that the publisher is RootsMagic, Inc. Do not approve an unexpected installer or publisher.

3.Follow the setup wizard. Read the license agreement and accept it if you agree to its terms.

4.Review the destination folder, Start Menu folder, and any shortcut options. In most cases, keep the installer’s default selections. On a 64-bit computer, RootsMagic 12 installs by default to: C:\Program Files\RootsMagic 12

5.Review the installation summary and click Install. When setup finishes, click Finish.

6.Start RootsMagic. Enter your license key to unlock the full version, or continue with RootsMagic Essentials. Open an existing tree, create a new one, or import your data.
