To open an existing database:
1.Select the File page, then choose Open a RootsMagic file. You can:
I.Select from any recently used files
II.Select from any "Found Files" which RootsMagic automatically searches for in common folders (like Documents).
III.Click the Browse for File button at the bottom of the screen to select a file with the File Open form
2.If you have just started RootsMagic, you can select the Home page, then click Open File. You will be shown the same options.
Check that you opened the intended copy
Compare the folder, version, root person, and other available details in the recent or found-file list. Two files can share a name while containing different research. Once the file opens, check its path on the File page and inspect a recently edited person.
A recent-file entry points to a location; it does not contain the tree. If the file was moved or its drive is disconnected, reconnect the drive or use Browse for File to locate it.
Use Restore from Backup for a .rmbackup file. Use Import from Another Program for another program's data, and follow the conversion instructions when opening an older RootsMagic tree.
