The root person is the one who is considered the starting person or central focus in the database. This may be yourself, your spouse, your child, or anyone else. You can change the root person at any time.
To set the root person, position the mouse over the name of a person in any of the Pedigree, Family, Descendants, or people views, click the right mouse button and select Position > Set root person from the pop-up menu.
Select Home from the menu on the People page, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+H to return to the root person. This command is especially useful if you get lost in your database and want to quickly return to the root person.

Root, current, and starting people
The database's root person is a saved point of reference. The current person is the person selected while you work. A report or Tree View can have a starting person chosen for that particular display.
Use Move to primary position in Tree View when you want to explore from another person without changing the database's root. Use General settings to choose whether the database opens at the root person or the last highlighted person.
