Use Source options to choose how references to your sources will appear in a report. The available choices depend on the report.

You can choose from:

•Citation type – Select how you want citations to appear in your report:

oNo sources – Select this option if you don’t want sources to print in the report.

oEndnotes — print the numbered references together on a separate page.

oFootnotes — print the numbered references at the bottom of the page where they are cited.

•Actual Text – Print the actual research notes with the source.

•Comments – Print the citation comments with the source.

•Reuse – Causes duplicate citations to only be printed once. This can drastically reduce the size of your list of sources.

•Ibid — use Ibid., meaning the same source as the preceding reference, when the same citation appears immediately again.

•Combine - Turn on to have RootsMagic combine multiple citations into one footnote, thus eliminating multiple reference numbers beside a fact

•Bibliography – Turn on if you want each source printed at the end of the document. The bibliography is list of sources printed in alphabetical order, without reference numbers pointing to them.

•Privatize — if a source template provides a public version of private information, use that version in the report. For example, a template might print "Address for private use" instead of a street address. Turn this off to print the private information. Check a report preview to see what the template includes.

Check what the reader will see

Generate a small sample report with sources enabled and inspect the reference numbers, full and short notes, and bibliography. Actual Text and Comments can greatly increase report length and may include research material you did not intend to distribute.

These choices change how the report looks. Reuse and Combine do not combine or delete citations saved in your tree. If a citation is missing information, edit the citation itself.
