Facts describe a person's life, such as a birth, marriage, residence, occupation, or death. Open Edit Person to add, correct, or remove facts. Add sources to show where you found the information, and use notes for details that need a longer explanation.

Record a fact and its evidence

Use the date and place fields for the event itself, Description for a short value such as an occupation, and a fact note for a longer account. Add a source citation to show which record supports that fact.

You can enter a fact more than once when needed. For example, enter a separate Census fact for each census. If two sources give different birth dates, you can enter both dates with their sources and explain the disagreement in a note. Mark one as Primary if you want RootsMagic to use it where only one date is shown. Marking it Primary does not prove it is correct.

Use Share when several people took part in the same event. Use Move or Copy when you entered a fact for the wrong person or want a separate copy for someone else.
