Database Tools are simply a few commands which can help you check and clean up the database. To access the database tools, select the File page, then Tools, or select them from the Tools Page.

 

•Test integrity - This command will tell you if the basic structure of the data file is ok.

•Rebuild indexes - This command will rebuild the internal indexes that RootsMagic uses when accessing data.

•Clean phantom records - This command will clean up phantom records of various types, such as blank children in a family, families with no people in them, etc.

•Compact - This command will remove deleted and unused records from the database. This can make the data file a little smaller.
