When you add a media item to your file, RootsMagic simply stores a link to that media item.  If you move media items on your hard drive, RootsMagic won't know where they are and will display a broken link (red X) for that item.

 

The Fix Broken Media Links tool will search your hard drive for any broken links and attempt to fix them.
